Our work

During our existence, we successfully implemented more than 40 grant projects aimed at protecting the rights of women and LGBT community, in which donors were RFSL, Ukrainian Women’s Fund, Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in Ukraine, COC Netherlands, KVINNA TILL KVINNА, NDI, USAID Netherlands, and others.

The hallmark of our organization and the queer movement in southern Ukraine has become an annual series of pride events as part of Ukraine’s only queer culture festival, Queer Forum. It is organized on a grassroots basis—the program is put together by the participants themselves, who are also actively involved in the organizational processes. In 2023, the Queer Forum was held in Kyiv for security reasons.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we have provided assistance to LGBTQI+ people and women in occupied Kherson, including assistance in purchasing food, medicine, basic necessities, assistance in leaving the occupied territory, as well as psychological assistance.

With the assistance of СO “Insha”, about 300 people were evacuated from the occupied territories and territories affected by flooding after the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam. Also, more than 200 people received psychological assistance and about 500 people received material assistance for humanitarian needs.

After the de-occupation, we continue our humanitarian activities, we also collect cases of war crimes against women and LGBTQI+ people, document the events of the occupation, and implement cultural and advocacy projects.

As a response to the traumatic events of recent years, the СО “Insha”  has opened a shelter for LGBTQI+ people who have lost their homes. A psychological service was developed, in which 7 psychotherapists of various fields and one psychiatrist work. All specialists are LGBTQI+ friendly or belong to the queer community.
